Title: Steps climbing robotApplicant: DALIAN UNIVERSITY (CN)Patent number: CN1603198Publication date: 06 April 2005

Keywords: Robotics, Patents

The invention discloses a climbing steps robot. It includes robot trunk, upper arm, down arm, driving motor, limit switch, photoelectric sensor, intelligence interface plate, and general computer. Its features are that the robot also includes a leading screw driving mechanism, upper arm mechanism, and down arm mechanism. The leading screw driving mechanism is set driving block. It is fixedly connected to the down arm mechanism. The upper arm mechanism is connected to the trunk to a unit. The driving motor, limit switch, and photoelectric sensor are connected to the general computer by the intelligence interface plate. The robot is control the program of the leading screw, upper arm, and down arm driving motor to form robot climbing steps action simulated the man's, make it be used as the carrying platform used in danger location or scene of fire. Many modularized devices are set to complete the urgent, difficult and dangerous, important mission, especially suited to the high-rise fire fighting rescue, power- transmission equipment maintenance, high-rise cleaning and city public order; fighting.

Title: Robot device, behavior control method for the robot device, and moving deviceApplicant: SONY CORP (JP); GUTMANN STEFFEN (JP); FUKUCHI MASAKI (JP)Patent number: WO2005087452Publication date: 22 September 2005

A robot device observes the external world by a stereo vision system and outputs stereo data as a distance image, the stereo data being three-dimensional distance information calculated by a parallax of both eyes. A plane detector detects planes from the distance image to recognize the planes present in the environment. From plane data, a stair recognizer extracts a plane which the robot can climb up and down, recognizes a stair from that plane, and outputs stair data. A stair climb-up/-down controller outputs a behaviour control command for realizing the movement for climbing up and down the stair by using the stair data. This enables a mobile body itself to obtain information on a stair to autonomously perform the movement of stair climb up and down.

Title: Monitoring robotApplicant: HONDA MOTOR CO LTDPatent number: US2006004486Publication date: 05 January 2006

A monitoring robot capable of boarding a mobile unit such as a vehicle together with a driver to perform monitoring surrounding of the mobile unit, is provided. The robot has a microphone, a voice recognition unit voice-recognition processing a sound signal of the microphone, CCD cameras, an image recognition unit image- recognition processing image signals outputted by the CCD cameras, a driver's instruction recognition unit recognizing driver's instructions based on the processing results of the voice recognition and image recognition units. In the robot, the imaging direction of the CCD cameras is designated in response to the driver's instructions, and a monitoring result is assessed based on the image-recognition processing result. Then, one among a set of predetermined notice actions including a voice notice, is selected based on the recognized instructions and monitoring result, such that the driver is notified of the monitoring result in accordance with the selected notice action.

Title: Robot device and method of controlling the sameApplicant:SONY CORP (JP)Patent number: EP1607195Publication date: 21 December 2005

The present invention is applied to, for example, a legged mobile robot and makes it possible to calculate the movement amount between a portion of the robot apparatus that had been in contact with a floor up to now and a next portion of the robot apparatus in contact with the floor using kinematics and to switch transformation to a coordinate system serving as an observation reference as a result of the switching between the floor contact portions.

Title: Autonomous mobile robot cleaner systemApplicant: FUNAI ELECTRIC CO (JP)Patent number: US2005171636Publication date: 04 August 2005

An autonomous mobile robot cleaner system including a robot cleaner and remote controllers for guiding the robot cleaner to rooms so as to clean several rooms in a house automatically and successively in user-selected cleaning modes. The remote controllers are placed on a corridor in the vicinity of the entrances of rooms so that a user can operate them to input information including a number assigned to each room and a cleaning mode desired for the room. The robot cleaner communicates with each of the remote controllers to obtain the information while autonomously moving around. Based on the information, the robot cleaner selects a room and a cleaning mode, enters the selected room to clean the room in the selected cleaning mode. After cleaning the room, the robot cleaner moves to the corridor and thereafter communicates with a next remote controller to repeat the above process.
