This paper describes the use of a robot as palletizing machine in a factory where the sizes of the operates, and therefore also the palletizing patterns, are changed quite often. The main advantages of the robot, the versatility and the easy programming are therefore used to their full advantages. In an application of this kind one needs a big memory capacity why an electronic controller with solid state and tape memory is used. The system with paper boxes put close together has also brought the necessity to design a special gripper device making it possible to handle the boxes without any fingers applied at the sides of the boxes. The height of the pallet load, some 2.5 meters, and the complicated patterns make this installation quite outstanding and it is to our knowledge the first time such a work has been done by means of a robot.
