Fanuc Robotics has entered into an agreement with Cognex whereby Cognex will provide the core machine vision technology for Fanuc Robotics' next-generation robotic vision systems.

The agreement combines the robotic guidance technology of Fanuc with Cognex's PatMax software.

"Cognex's PatMax software will give Fanuc's robots the capability to accurately locate objects at any angle or scale on the assembly line, which will enable Fanuc's customers to simplify their manufacturing process," explained Dr Robert J. Shillman, president, CEO and chairman of Cognex Corp.
