Producing patterns is an expensive process - especially for motor yachts and other ocean going vessels.
A leading naval architecture company specialising in the design, evaluation,testing and construction of boat models has ordered an RTS FlexMill system to produce moulds up to 26m in length (see Plate 4).
Selected in preference to conventional machinery, the RTS system offers unprecedented flexibility and cost benefits.
Two ABB IRB6400F robots, each equipped with a 10Kw high speed spindle and automatic tool exchange, perform milling and profiling operations. Mounted on 26m ABB IRB6002S linear track motions, the system offers a working volume of approximately 300m3.
