EUREKA, the European network for industrial innovation, and CEN, the European Committee for Standardization, has signed a cooperation agreement, which improves access for companies to the standardisation process.

The agreement outlines the main modalities for cooperation whereby:

  • EUREKA is entitled to propose new topics for standardisation to the CEN Technical Board,

  • CEN will offer information on technological trends relevant to standardisation, workshops and seminars,

  • mutual links will be opened from both parties' web sites, making access to information easily accessible.

Through the agreement, companies in the process of EUREKA project generation are given the possibility of using CEN Technical Work Programmes to obtain information about standardisation matters. This gives EUREKA project participants direct access to the standardisation process and enables them to introduce de-facto standards through CEN workshops. It also allows these companies to collaborate more closely in standardisation matters and to protect their innovations.
