KUKA Robotics selected as robotics supplier by Delta Sigma Corporation
KUKA Robotics Corporation, a manufacturer of industrial robots, recently announced that it has been selected by Delta Sigma Corporation (DSC) as its robotics supplier for DSC's new gantry dispensing system. DSC, of Kennesaw,Georgia, will use KUKA Motion Control technology as its control architecture for its custom six-axis gantry dispensing system. The system also utilizes a portion of a KUKA KR16 robot attached to the gantry robot. The new gantry robot, when combined with KUKA Robotics' user-friendly, PC- based control platform, will give customers an easy-to-use and easy-to- learn automated dispensing solution, according to the company.
“Applications that cannot use an articulated robot or where an articulated robot is not practical will benefit from Delta Sigma's new system,”said Kevin Kozuszek, director of marketing for KUKA Robotics Corporation.“We believe DSC's new gantry robot when combined with KUKA controls and robot arm will deliver unique and valuable solutions to many customers in a broad range of industries.”
“We chose the KUKA KMC controller as it is extremely robust, simple to learn and program, and easy to operate,” said Roger Richardson, President of DSC. “The KUKA KMC control technology is ideal for customers with a one-of-a-kind application that needs 6 degrees of freedom.”
The KUKA KMC controller can be used to control a wide range of kinematic systems and machines more intelligently than with conventional solutions. Irrespective of whether the individual axes are to be moved synchronously, asynchronously or pulsed, the KUKA controller is said to be ideally suited to all customer requirements. With KUKA's controller concept for all machine types, more intelligent solutions can be developed.
