Mahsood Shah is Professor and Associate Pro Vice Chancellor, Learning and Teaching at La Trobe University, Australia. His role includes college wide leadership in all aspects of learning and teaching. In this role, he is responsible for academic governance, learning and teaching strategy and implementation, quality assurance and enhancements, course development and ongoing reviews and maintenance of standards. Mahsood is a member of various university- and college-level committees. Mahsood works with key academic leaders including Heads of Schools across all campuses to improve learning and teaching outcomes of courses delivered in various modes including face-to-face, online and third-party arrangements. Mahsood is also an active researcher. His areas of research include quality in higher education, measurement and enhancement of student experience, student retention and attrition, student engagement in quality assurance, international higher education, widening participation and private higher education.

Anja Pabel is Lecturer in Tourism at the School of Business and Law, CQUniversity in Cairns, Australia, where she is also involved in the design of subjects in the Masters of Sustainable Tourism Management. Her research interests are: tourist behaviour, nature-based tourism and humour research. Anja completed a Bachelor of Business with first class honours at James Cook University (JCU), Australia. After finishing her business degree, she worked as Research Assistant at JCU’s tourism department for one year. This year ignited her interest in research and led her to begin a PhD in tourism at JCU. Her PhD research extended understandings of humour, positive psychology and the experience economy in the context of tourism. During her teaching journey, Anja has developed an appreciation of the challenges faced by universities in ensuring the employability of their graduates. She is particularly interested in researching the overlaps of philosophical and practical contacts that continue to take place when bridging university degrees and industry demands.
