Pak Kok Pier, Hong Kong – first in Pier Improvement Programme

The Pier Improvement Programme (PIP) is a new policy initiative launched in Hong Kong in 2017 to enhance the structures and facilities of existing public piers. This paper delves into improvement works at Pak Kok Pier (PKP) on Lamma Island. PKP is the first project of the PIP, which commenced in April 2020 and was completed in October 2022. The paper examines the design features, implementation strategies and community impact of the improvement works at PKP.
