Since the Environment Agency took over the role as the enforcement authority for the Reservoirs Act 1975 in 2004, all periodical (section 10) inspection reports for large raised reservoirs in England and Wales containing statutory safety recommendations have been copied to the Agency's reservoir safety team in Exeter. It is now possible to benefit from the centralisation of several hundred reports. This article gives some insight to the areas of concern raised by inspecting engineers over the last 5 years.
