An update on reservoir safety legislation in Wales

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) is the enforcement authority for the Reservoirs Act 1975 in Wales. A primary driver for this role is to be able to provide public assurance on the safety of Welsh reservoirs. This paper summarises the expected changes to be introduced by schedule 4 of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010, for which NRW maintains responsibility for ensuring that the undertakers observe and comply with the law.
