John Rennie and his resident engineers Available to Purchase

This paper gives brief details of the careers of a number of men who worked as resident engineers on projects of the leading early nineteenth century engineer John Rennie. As a consulting engineer based in London, Rennie relied on having a corps of competent people on the ground, able to take decisions on the spot yet reporting regularly to him so that he could maintain control. Although not directly employed by him, it shows that many of these men were happy to work continuously with him over several jobs.
