This study identifies key sustainable project management (SPM) practices and proposes improvement strategies to strengthen sustainability in Ghana’s construction sector. A systematic literature review informed the development of a structured questionnaire. Data from construction professionals were analysed using exploratory factor analysis to uncover critical areas influencing SPM adoption. This study reveals seven core factors: environmental assessments, stakeholder engagement, technological adoption, green certification, renewable energy integration, ethical sourcing, and risk management as essential to enhancing SPM practices. These measures improve environmental performance and align construction activities with the Sustainable Development Goals. Policymakers and industry stakeholders should prioritise regulatory enforcement, innovation, and capacity building, while promoting sustainable materials and public–private collaboration. Embedding SPM into construction processes is vital for Ghana’s sustainable development. Enhanced awareness, institutional support, and efficient resource use are key to better project outcomes. This study provides empirical evidence and a data-driven framework to guide policy and practice in integrating sustainability into project management in Ghana’s construction industry.
