The publisher of the Journal of Economic Studies wishes to retract the article Luigi Aldieri, Cristian Barra, Concetto Paolo Vinci; The impact of regulatory quality on the digital economy: new insights from Italian regions. Journal of Economic Studies 15 December 2025; 52 (9): 89–110. https://doi.org/10.1108/JES-08-2024-0580. It has come to our attention that some sections of this article are taken, without full and proper attribution, from an earlier original work by Labhard, Vincent and Lehtimäki, Jonne, Digitalisation, Institutions and Governance, and Growth: Mechanisms and Evidence (September 1, 2022). ECB Working Paper No. 2022/2735, http://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.4232678. The submission guidelines for the Journal of Economic Studies make it clear that articles must be original and not infringe any existing copyright. As part of the investigation into these concerns, the authors also identified an issue with the robustness analysis, which used the wrong methodology. As a result, the findings of the article can no longer be relied upon. The authors of this article would like to note that they do not agree with the content of this notice in relation to the originality concerns. The authors and publisher sincerely apologize to the readers of the journal.
