This study examines how an entrepreneurial mindset influences family firm performance, with a focus on firm age and size as boundary conditions that may enhance or impede this effect.
Using micro-level data from 213 family firms in the sports industry in Jammu and Kashmir, India, we employ structural equation modeling (SEM) and multi-group moderation analyses to test our research hypothesis.
Our results show that an entrepreneurial mindset serves as a key driver of family firm performance in Indian firms. Additionally, larger and more mature family firms benefit more from acquiring and nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset, suggesting that firm characteristics shape the impact of entrepreneurial strategies on growth.
This study contributes to the literature on family firm strategy by highlighting the conditional effects of firm age and size on the relationship between entrepreneurial mindset and performance. It provides insights into how family firms in emerging economies can leverage entrepreneurial thinking for sustainable growth.
