The publisher of Journal of Financial Reporting and Accounting wishes to retract the article Al-Safadi, M.E. and Ooi, S.K. Cryptocurrency and audit report lag: new evidence from the European countriesLink to the cited article. It has come to our attention that a large portion of this article is taken, without full and proper attribution, from an earlier unpublished work by Saeed Akbar, Mohamad Ali Safieddine, Monomita Nandy, Suman Lodh, Vikas Kumar and Kevin McMeeking, “Bitcoin and Audit Report Lag: New Evidence from Europe”. The submission guidelines for Journal of Financial Reporting and Accounting make it clear that articles must be original and not infringe any existing copyright. Further concerns have also been identified with regard to whether permission was obtained to use the Audit Analytics data. As part of the investigation into these concerns, the authors were requested to provide a copy of the data set so that the editorial team could verify the findings. The authors were unable to provide the data set. Emerald’s policy on clearing permission makes it clear that authors must be responsible for securing the necessary clearance from the copyright holder or appropriate third party. Despite numerous attempts to contact the authors, the journal has received no response; the response of the authors would be gratefully received. The publisher of the journal sincerely apologizes to the readers.
