First, the incorrect source data was selected for plotting the ‘Present study’ data series in Fig. 5(a); the correct version of the figure is presented below.

Second, equation (9) was missing an exponent; the correct equation is as follows.

Third, the plotted data points in Fig. 9 are incorrect due to a calculation error; the correct figure is presented below.

Finally, the numerical values in Table 2 are incorrect due to a calculation error; the correct table is presented below.

The authors apologise to the readers of Géotechnique for these mistakes in the original paper.
