It has come to the attention of the publisher that the article “GIS-mapping and spatial variability analysis for planning geotechnical site investigations” (2025) by Eugene Lim and Nicholas Moore, published in Geotechnical Research, https://doi.org/10.1680/jgere.23.00068, featured four figures without appropriate licencing and permissions.
Specifically, the owner of Figures 2, 3, 4, and 6 (Aurecon Group Pty Ltd) withdrew their permission for the data within these images to be presented post-publication; no factual inaccuracies were noted, however. These figures have been replaced within the article and, along with the other images used, are the property of the authors; no other changes were made to the captions or text.
Emerald’s policy on clearing permission makes it clear that authors must be responsible for securing the necessary clearance from the copyright holder or appropriate third party. The authors sincerely apologize for this mistake.
