This research work aims to assess the effect of various materials and production conditions on the impact strength (Izod) of nanographene-reinforced PLA composites. The process variables, comprising extrusion temperature (190, 200, 210, 220, 230, and 240°C), infill pattern (gyroid, honeycomb, and rectilinear), and infill density (40%, 50%, and 60%), were methodically optimized and statistically assessed utilizing the Taguchi method. The composite samples were produced via fused filament fabrication following the ASTM D256 standard. An experiment was standardized following ASTM standards to evaluate the impact strength of samples created per the experimental design. The infill pattern is the principal determinant affecting impact intensity, as demonstrated by the S/N ratio response table. The gyroid infill pattern, 60% infill density, and 240°C extrusion temperature constituted the best combination of process parameters for achieving elevated impact strength. The infill pattern content exhibited the highest statistical significance and considerable impact on the characteristics, as evidenced by the analysis of variance. The intrinsic biodegradability of PLA is synergistically combined with the augmented strength of nanographene in this composite material to make it suitable for real-time applications.
