This paper presents a solution to the differential membrane equation of parabolic velaroidal shells in which a finite polynomial stress function is used. The method of determining stresses and deflexions from the Vlasov-Marguerre differential equations for the bending of such shells by using finite difference techniques is also indicated. Tests conducted on a cement mortar model shell are described and the results are compared with those obtained theoretically.
