The construction industry generates numerous numbers of employment and makes a substantial contribution to the gross domestic product and national economy. Building information modelling (BIM), drones, radio frequency identification, laser scanning, 3D printing, and many more cutting-edge technologies are used in construction industry. This study looks at Bangladesh’s construction industry to identify the responsible causes and effects of not implementing BIM. A thorough literature analysis and survey has been carried out in order to complete this study, which aims to determine the reasons and consequences of not using BIM technology. To determine the mean, standard deviation, relative importance index, and Pearson correlation, the gathered data was examined using Excel 2019 and SPSS 26. According to the study, the adoption of BIM technology has a positive impact on construction sites’ discipline, budgetary costs, scheduling, quality, and productivity. To show the overall scenario of not implementing BIM technology, a fishbone graphic depicting causes and effects was made. Professionals in the field are more aware of BIM technology thanks to the study, which also serves to provide important information on the consequences, root causes, and important facts of the construction industry’s digitisation.
