Papers published in Transport are eligible for awards from the Institution of Civil Engineers. Papers from any of the ICE journals can be nominated for several awards. In addition, each journal has awards dedicated to their specific subject area.
On Friday 24 October 2008, ICE president David Orr presented awards to the following papers published in Transport in 2007. The editorial panel nominated their best papers and an awards committee chaired by Adrian Long allocated the awards.
The Rees Jeffrys Award, presented for the best paper on highway engineering, has been awarded to: Frost D. and Ison S. Comparison of noise impacts from urban transport. Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers—Transport, 2007, 160, No. 4, 165–172.
The Webb Prize, presented for the best paper on railway or transport engineering, has been awarded to: Woodward P. K., Thompson D. and Banimahd M. Geocomposite technology: reducing railway maintenance. Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers—Transport, 2007, 160, No. 3, 109–115.
The Reed and Malik Medal, presented for the best paper on practical aspects of a civil engineering project, has been awarded to: Brodrick B. V., Collop A. C., Brown S. F. and Cooper R. The introduction of flexibility into a road ironwork installation. Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers—Transport, 2007, 160, No. 3, 93–100.
A Telford Premium, presented for a notable contribution to civil engineering literature, has been awarded to: Knight J. Explaining tunnel construction by joint mapping. Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers—Transport, 2007, 160, No. 2, 47–57.
