This study introduces the creation of the expert system for advanced pavement repair and maintenance (Exs-PRM), a sophisticated knowledge-based expert system specifically created to assist civil engineers and trainees in the execution of concrete pavement construction projects. The system provides a comprehensive solution for the management of different types of pavements, such as rigid pavements, flexible pavements, continuously reinforced concrete pavements, composite pavements, brick pavements and subgrade/subbase conditions. Exs-PRM offers comprehensive analysis and suggestions for pavement faults, including detailed descriptions, underlying causes, preventive actions, severity evaluations, testing instructions, instructional films and repair procedures. The purpose of the system is to streamline effective decision making, function as an instructional instrument and retain specialised information for future utilisation.
