This article discusses the various communities that have contributed to the evolution of the Yale University Library Electronic Text Center (ETC). University groups currently benefiting from the ETC‘s services are discussed, as are those who potentially may benefit from ETC services in the future. Also considered are departments and organizations contributing to or influencing the center‘s services. A central theme of the article is the evolution of the ETC from a center for the support of electronic texts in the humanities, to an electronic resource center providing support in the creation of Web resources.
