Emory‘s “full‐text” center has been engaged in a number of small‐scale digitization projects. In each of these projects the Beck Center has followed the “SGML Model.” Through these projects, we have forged partnerships with faculty, other library departments, other libraries, and our computing center. Since we continue to rely on others for determining the value of the texts that we have produced, we have acted more as an “electronic printer” than an “electronic press”. As a printer, we also have taken on the role of promoting the value and the usefulness of “full‐text” databases to our faculty and students. In this effort we have served as a demonstration project for the campus, pointing to the real possibilities that technology offers for research and study.
