Organisational commitment research has developed some well‐established paradigms that may be enriched by seeking experimental interventions directed at increasing employee commitment. The three major categories of commitment variables are described. Implications suggested through interviews of organisational members at different levels are discussed and a need for increased experimental intervention and measurement is identified.
