About Learning and teaching in higher education: Gulf perspectives
Aims and scope

Learning and Teaching in Higher Education: Gulf Perspectives (LTHE) aims to present and discuss issues and research of relevance to university and college educators in the Arab Gulf Region. LTHE is a refereed journal published by Emerald Publishing Group. The journal is intended to be of relevance to people teaching in any discipline, or supporting learning in other ways, in higher education in the Gulf, although the readership is worldwide.

Peer Review
Learning and Teaching in Higher Education: Gulf Perspectives operates a double-anonymous peer review model. All articles undergo an initial assessment by the journal editor. If they are considered suitable for peer review, articles will then be reviewed by a minimum of two external reviewers to assess suitability for publication. Final responsibility for editorial decisions rests with the journal editor.
Review Process
Submissions are double-anonymous reviewed by at least two peer reviewers. Because the journal is aimed at educators from a range of subject backgrounds, one of the reviewers is normally working in the subject area of the author, and the other in a different subject area. Reviews refer to the criteria listed below. Each review typically takes approximately one month.
Review Criteria:
- Clear, Relevant Goals – clearly relevant to learning and teaching in a range of subject areas at tertiary level in the Gulf Region.
- Adequate Preparation – setting the scene for the study, including relevant and sufficient review of concepts and findings in previous work in the field; relevant and sufficient discussion of the particular context of the course/activity involved.
- Appropriate Methods – research methodology (or gathering of data about practical initiatives).
- Significant Results – clearly presented findings (or evidence and insights from the course/activity) which are clearly relevant to teaching and learning in a range of disciplines.
- Effective Presentation – format, spelling, style, length, etc.
- Reflective Critique – awareness of the personal and professional relevance of the study.

All articles published in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education: Gulf Perspectives are published Open Access under a CC BY 4.0 licence on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
