The UK says it has overtaken Denmark as the world’s biggest producer of offshore wind power. Britain now has 597 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity,the new energy and climate ministry has said. Five more offshore farms with a total capacity of 938 MW are under construction. The government-backed agency,the Carbon Trust, announced it will work with five major firms to cut the production costs of offshore wind power by 10 per cent.
