Semiconductor manufacturers predict bright future for bare die

Keywords Semi Dice, Dies, Semiconductors, Surveys

The Fourth Annual Semi Dice, Inc. bare die survey is complete.

The survey addressed topics such as the technical and market factors that affect bare die use, the importance of Known Good Die (KGD), and current and future opportunities for bare die use.

In the 2000 survey of circuit manufacturers, cost and availability were reported as the largest factors limiting the broader use of bare die. Semiconductor manufacturers remain optimistic about the future of bare die. Over 60 per cent of the semiconductor manufacturer participants said they expect bare die wafer sales to increase – more than 40 per cent indicated an increase in sales over the past 12 months.

The Bare Die Survey was distributed to 40 circuit manufacturers and 35 leading semiconductor manufacturers. More than 30 per cent of Semiconductor and 33 per cent of Circuit Surveys, were completed, returned and compiled.

Designed as a barometer of the bare die industry, the Semi Dice Inc. Bare Die Survey aims to evaluate, monitor and educate the electronics industry about bare die. To purchase a copy of the survey results, contact Darin Minter at (562) 594 4631.
