Iskra, now Yugoslavia's largest electronics company, has come a long way from the old engine factory in which it started just 40 years ago. Today, with 34,000 employees and a 1985 turnover of 287.700 M dinars, it is a force to be reckoned with. They rely heavily on exports, which increased over the year by 18% to reach 246 M dollars, a safer currency in which to quote figures in view of the high rate of inflation in this country at the present time. In order to keep imports to a minimum, indigenous supplies of components and services are used wherever possible, many in fact coming from Iskra itself.
