FSA and IEE keynotes for IEE/FSA International Semi conductor Executive Forum

The 2005 FSA Suppliers Expo EUROPE and IEE/FSA International Semiconductor Executive Forum took place on 11-12 May 2005 at the Mermaid Conference and Events Centre in London. The Forum explored challenges and opportunities with business in Asia, the automotive industry, end market strategies and global competitiveness.
Kicking-off the event, Hugo De Man, senior fellow at IMEC, examined bridging the gap between giga-scale systems and nano-scale devices in his keynote address. “With the move in the nano-era, the grand challenge in developing systems for the ambient intelligent environment will be to design flexible multiprocessor platforms with two-orders-of-magnitude lower power dissipation than today's microprocessors at a 20th of the cost, while coping with the realities of nanoscale physics,” said De Man.
The Event also featured the following three esteemed keynotes:
Tom Hart, chairman, president and CEO of QuickLogic, examined the wireless market.
Waguih Ishak, director of the Photonics and Electronics Research Laboratory at Agilent, discussed applications of electronics, photonics, and MEMS in consumer electronics.
Rene Penning de Vries, senior vice-president and CTO of Philips Semiconductors, focused on technology applications from micro to nano: system-on chip and beyond.
The second annual Forum brought together executives from the entire semiconductor industry, including fabless, foundry, test and packaging companies; EDA tool vendors; integrated device manufacturers (IDMs); investment bankers and venture capitalists.
Additionally, on 12 May, FSA hosted its first FSA Suppliers Expo EUROPE,providing an opportunity for all European semiconductor professionals to attend a complimentary exhibition featuring industry suppliers from across the globe to explore their latest, most innovative products and services.
