Avago Technologies' Envisium family of LEDs receive EE Times' ACE ultimate products of the year award

The Avago Technologies' Envisium mid-power family of light-emitting diodes(LEDs) for automotive applications was awarded the EE Times ACE ultimate products of the year award in the Interconnect, Passive and Electromechanical Components (IP&E) category. The EE Times Annual Creativity in Electronics(ACE) Awards recognises the most significant products introduced in the last 12 months and are chosen by qualified readers of EE Times and eeProductCenter via electronic balloting.

The Envisium Power PLCC-4 (plastic leaded chip carrier) surface mount (SMT)LEDs, jointly developed by Avago Technologies and Lumileds Lighting, is designed for automotive exterior lighting, such as center high- mounted stoplights, front turn signals, rear combination turn, tail and stoplights, and mirror turn signals. The LEDs are also used for automotive interior lighting, such as instrument panel and control backlighting, central console backlighting, and navigation and audio systems.

The Envisium Power PLCC-4 SMT LEDs, available in red, red-orange and amber,fill the need for mid-power illumination capabilities that, in addition to automotives, are appropriate for home and commercial-building mood lighting and highlighting, garden lighting, and illuminated signs and signals. The use of high-performance Lumileds Lighting TS AlInGaP (transparent-substrate aluminum indium gallium phosphide) LED die enables the new LEDs to produce higher luminous flux output than any other PLCC-4 LEDs on the market. For example, the Envisium Power PLCC-4 SMT LEDs feature higher luminous output than the nearest competitor's offerings, which are widely used for automotive signaling applications.
