This study aims to adapt and expand the scale developed by Robertson (2018) to assess perceptions of Transformational Leadership for Environmental Sustainability (TLES).
To achieve this, 21 items were constructed using a five-point Likert scale. Validation consisted of two phases. In the qualitative phase, the instrument was translated, back-translated and evaluated by an expert committee before pre-testing. In the quantitative phase, the scale’s items and dimensionality were validated, confirming the theoretical model.
This study contributes to the theoretical foundation by proposing an expanded TLES, which incorporates previously explored items and introduces new items that focus on improving environmental performance, raising awareness of environmental issues and applying resources to environmental solutions.
The TLES scale aims to understand the leader’s role in valuing environmental actions, sharing and providing information and training individuals on how to address environmental problems.
This research makes strides by adapting and expanding a measure to assess TLES, applicable in various contexts, as private organizations, the public sector and non-profit organizations.
