Telford Challenge

This is an organisation, launched in 1998, in which the engineering profession helps to combat poverty in third world countries by offering support for projects and programmes. Programmes are run through robust partner organisations in countries such as India, Bangladesh and Ethiopia.

The Telford Challenge will sponsor programmes by utilising or enhancing engineering skills, they will be community based and multi-disciplinary with cultural, religious and social factors fully integrated. Programmes will be developed and carried out by a partner in collaboration with the local community. These partners will be institutions, companies or government departments fully conversant with the culture and economic and social position within the country.
