This interactive kitchen hosted by the National Association of Care catering offered demonstrations and testings and provided an insight into the best and most nutritious food for residents in your home.

Daily programme:

  • 10.30-11.15 Chef demonstration 1 – Gareth Cartledge, St Monica's trust.

  • 11.40-11.55 Eating for health – How to develop a nutrition policy for your establishment, Presenter Karen Oliver.

  • 12.00-12.45 Chef demonstration 2 – Mark Wilkinson, Northwood Nursing& Residential Care Home Blackburn, grilled trout wilted leeks and spinach,mashed potatoes, sauce vierge, Summer pudding with Cornish clotted cream.

  • 13.10-13.55 Coeliac Menu – Eat well for older people with special diets Shelia Migay – Sales demonstrates how to produce a coeliac meal. Chilli pork and bean casserole, carrot and walnut soda bread, gooey chocolate pudding and custard sauce.

  • 14.15-15.00 Chef demonstration 3 – “What's in the cupboard Chef?” Gareth and Mark create dishes from food left in the storeroom.

The NACC also provided a delicious nutritious menu options throughout the show.

New fitness focus

Following the outstanding success of its programme with the Redholme Memory Care Home in Mossley Hill, Technogym showed its Easy Line circuit of fitness equipment designed to help increase physical activity.
