About five years ago, we at EDS began to rethink our corporate direction. We looked at our competencies and considered how to best apply them to leverage market opportunities. We brought in five successive “waves” of people from all areas of the company. Each wave considered different situations, such as economic threats, core competencies, and opportunities. Members of all five waves then met to craft our corporate strategy. The entire process involved about 2,000 employees.
