Water‐borne paint systems intended for exterior wood are being reintroduced onto the British market. They constitute a radical departure from traditional painting practice and many users lack confidence in their suitability. Results of testing at the Princes Risborough Laboratory show that water‐borne paint systems offer important advantages, including high durability, a degree of moisture permeability and ease of use. This Information Paper summarises the main requirements for successful use.
