With the aid of a contract from the Training, Enterprise and Education Directorate (TEED) the Paintmakers have now completed an in‐depth survey amongst both members and non‐members, making surface coatings. The main aim was to take stock of emerging skills needs, likely effects of the demographic trends, growing problems from the environmental lobby and the potential effects of the Single European Market in 1992. With the aid of consultants, Pointing Associates, there was a thorough examination of the changing manpower structure of the industry, plus its current and future skills needs. This will lead to certain defined training needs.
