Paint and varnish production in 1972 stood at 1,266,903 tons, 15 per cent higher than 1,100,362 tons a year ago and shipment 1,257,734 tons, up 14 percent from 1,099,337 tons in the preceding year. By item, oil paint output was 102,704 tons, up 4 per cent, lacquer 80,255 tons, up 8 per cent, and synthetic resin paints 729,620 tons, a sharp rise of 17 per cent.
