In World Patent 97/31984 Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Co. describes water-based pigmented ink formulations including a water soluble or water dispersible silicon-containing polymer additive comprising a vinyl silicone polymer. The additive significantly reduces kogation, mudcracking, and banding in some or all of the pigmented ink formulations.
