Packaging coatings has been separated from PPG Industries' industrial coatings unit as the company's 15th strategic business unit, reflecting PPG's emergence during the past year­ largely through acquisitions as a global, full-line supplier of specialized coatings for all types of packaging.

Donald W. Bogus, 51, heads the new unit as vice-president of packaging coatings. Michael A. Ludlow, 46,succeeds him as vice-president of industrial coatings.

Margaret H. McGrath, 43,replaces Ludlow as vice-president of corporate purchasing and distribution; she was president of subsidiary PPG Canada Inc. and vice-president of coatings,Canada. PPG Canada management announcements will be made later.
