Trimite to enhance TGIC-free powder range

Following concerns expressed recently by the Health and Safety Executive about the potential health risks of triglycidyl isocyanurate (TGIC), which has been used widely as a curing/hardening in powder coatings, Trimite has embarked on a thorough review of its powder formulations. This is expected to result in the company introducing an enhanced range of TGIC-free products over the next few months.
"Trimite has always placed user health and safety at the forefront of its product development programmes and takes any hint of possible risks to customers resulting from the use of powder coatings very seriously. As a result of the latest HSE guidance notes on using powders containing TGIC, we are undertaking an in-depth examination of all relevant products", said Howard Wilson, product manager of the company's Powder Coatings Division.
Powder coatings containing TGIC will still be manufactured by the company for those users with a specific need for coatings of this type and which operate in line with HSE recommendations.
