Porter Paints add Wattyl stores

PPG Industries has recently added the retail business of Wattyl Paint Corp. in four south eastern states to its Porter Paints architectural coatings business.

Maurice V. Peconi, PPG vice-president of architectural coatings, commenting on the acquisition of the Atlanta-based retail operations of the US unit of Wattyl, Ltd, Sydney, Australia said: “The acquisition is consistent with our strategy to increase Porter Paints’ presence in the communities it serves”, He went on to add “Most of Wattyl’s stores are in cities or towns in which Porter has one or more stores”. The 21 stores in the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida employ about 90 people. Porter Paints joined PPG’s North American architectural coating’s business at the beginning of the year, acquired from Akzo Nobel.
