Plascoat informs us that it has developed a water-based, non-hazardous primer that it believes represents a real high performance alternative to solvent-based systems.
Formulated exclusively for use on steel, galvanised and alloy substrates to the coating of PVC powders and plastisols, Aquaprime is reported to perform remarkably well against conventional primers across a range of benchmarks.
Aquaprime is said to be easy to apply using brush, spray or dipping techniques, with a typical coating thickness of between 0.2 and 0.3 microns.
After dipping the drying time of this product, at a temperature as low as 20C, is stated to be just five minutes. Force drying is also an option.
According to Plascoat added adhesion promoters, defoamers and levelers mean that Aquaprime offers very good adhesion prior to stoving, is low foaming and provides good resistance to salt spray and abrasion.
With Aquaprime there is said to be no necessity for pre-treatments such as T washing when applying to galvanised and alloy substrates, while corrosion inhibition results in protection levels that reportedly resist creep.
