A Web-based training programme in surface coating technology has been developed by the British Coatings Federation and the National Training Organisation (NTO) for the surface coatings industry. Modules can be selected,ordered, paid for and downloaded from www.opentech.org.uk
The site offers up-to-date training in surface coatings technology for companies and people throughout the industry and its supply chain. Over 50 ten-hour modules provide flexible technical training. Students can select single modules or complete training programmes. On-line assessment, tutor support and a system of testing and accreditation are provided.
The programme covers formulation, manufacturing and application for paints,resins, printing inks and powder coatings. The 50-odd modules are divided into foundation, intermediate and advanced levels, from which students can select the right programme for their needs, a CD-ROM provides supporting material.
