Differential refractometer for polymer analysis
Differential refractometer for polymer analysis

It is Brookhaven Instruments' opinion that light scattering experiments are set to become easier with the launch of its BI-DNDC differential refractometer(Plate 6). The new differential refractometer has a warm-up time of just one hour and is claimed to be significantly less expensive than other models on the market.
An accessory to the existing line of Brookhaven's light scattering instruments, the BI-DNDC is a deflection-type refractometer that provides key information for continuing research and/or monitoring activities.

The instrument comes with sophisticated Windows-based software that can calculate the specific refractive index increment (dn/dc) in either static or dynamic mode. An accurate value of dn/dc is essential in molecular weight determination by light scattering. In dynamic mode the BI-DNDC can also be used as a concentration detector for HPLC and GPC applications.
