Universal Processes and Plant Ltd acquired
International powder processing group, the British Rema group of companies has acquired Sussex-based Universal Processes and Plant Ltd, plus the company’s subsidiary UPP Developments Ltd, for an undisclosed sum (Plate 8).
These latest additions will further enhance British Rema’s portfolio of companies, bringing expertise in densification and in slide gate valve technology for the processing of fine powders.
Plate 8 Densification will now be offered as an additional service by British Rema, following the company’s acquisition of Universal Processes & Plant Ltd

We are now in a strong position to offer the very best bulk handling and processing solutions to companies across Europe and beyond.”
The Universal Processes and Plant manufacturing unit will be brought to British Rema’s headquarters in Derbyshire, where the company will continue manufacturing high quality densifiers and slide gate valves, as well as carrying out the densification of materials for contract customers.
Both companies share a number of synergies which will help strengthen the position in the market place.
These include offering complementary products to similar industries, such as minerals, carbonates, chemicals, aerospace and paint and toners, both being highly experienced in the processing industries with over 50 years in business and having a high level of technical expertise.
British Rema is ISO 9001:2000 accredited and has recently invested a significant sum in new contract processing facilities and a brand new technical centre at its Chesterfield site.
