New division to implement control and information technology solutions

Keyword: AGV

Indumat, the German manufacturer of automated guided vehicle (AGV) systems, has launched a new division to concentrate on the development and implementation of automation systems which have a high information technology and controls content. Called KITS, the division is Indumat's centre of excellence for IT and controls and is represented in the UK by subsidiary company, Indumat Systems Ltd, Basingstoke.

The man-machine interface and process control systems are KIT's domain as they are both key to the successful implementation of complex automation. A team of software and hardware engineers is dedicated to finding cost-effective solutions tailored to each application, covering supervision, diagnostics, maintenance, process control and production data collection and analysis.

KITS is also the outlet for Indumat's range of standard trucks such as Ecomat(see Plate 4) and the new L14-LTI with its laser guidance and teach-in facilities. These are production trucks which combine the driverless capabilities of an AGV with those of a conventional electric hand pallet or stacker truck. KITS, service covers everything from initial consultancy through to training and after sales service.

The strength and long-term continuity of the AGV supplier are important if a warehousing operation or manufacturer is considering investing in this type of equipment. Peter Holdcroft of Indumat Systems stresses that the company has been trading continuously in the UK for the past 20 years while the German parent group, part of the Linde organisation, boasts over 35 years in the AGV business.

Three new brochures have been published by Indumat, one of which outlines the activities of the new KITS division. The others are entitled Mainstream AGV System Solutions and Handimat (modular AGV systems). Copies of all three brochures are available on request, free of charge.
