This is the web site of Boothroyd Dewhurst Design For Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA®) software tools and services. DFMA®allows “companies to develop products with fewer parts at lower cost and with higher quality than was previously possible”. Their web site contains information about how their products can be used to produce a more efficient production line and give more accurate costing of the final product.
This is a nice little site about a joint research project at Hull University and Cranfield University; The Designers' Sandpit project follows many years of successful collaboration between Prof. Ken Swift at the University of Hull and Mr Graham Jared at Cranfield University aimed at the integration of design for assembly (DFA) techniques within a computer aided design (CAD) environment. A subsequent programme – the OPHIR project – explored the relationship between assembly sequences and successful DFA analyses. This is a good site to have a look at.
