Since its introduction, PlantWeb^TM field-based architecture has revolutionised the world of process management. A PlantWeb Builder encompasses all the major components needed to build a Foundation fieldbus implementation of PlantWeb architecture. Depending on customers' needs, it can include:

• measurement and analytical instruments;

• valves with digital valve controllers or actuators;

• scalable control systems with integrated device management;

• other required equipment such as power supplies, enclosures and junction boxes; and

• implementation support services.

Together, these components add up to a complete, integrated solution that helps to lower costs while improving process and business performance.

Validation of the capabilities of PlantWeb Builder comes from users in the field, who have realised the multitude of functional and financial benefits of this revolutionary tool. Users can see the benefits on the newly-launched Web site known as Test Drive PlantWeb (to be found at www.testdrive PlantWeb.com). This has the tools to see where the capital expenditure savings come from in a particular industry and plant and shows how to make savings from each device. During the test drive, the user can customise the process to see the effects that PlantWeb would have, with the figures calculated and explained. These savings are based on actual results achieved by Fisher-Rosemount customers and the experience gained over the years. Examples include the pulp and paper industry, power and chemical and petrochemical.

The introduction of PlantWeb Builder into the UK means that customers can quantify within a short time the competitive advantages.
