Keyword: Control
Opto 22, a supplier and innovator of I/O systems for data acquisition and control, announced the release of SNAP Ultimate I/O, the latest in its successful line of industrial automation products (Plate 6).
Opto 22's new SNAP Ultimate I/O delivers powerful new processing, programmability, and connectivity features that bring significantly greater functionality to the I/O level. Now, I/O handling, control functions, Ethernet networking, and enterprise connectivity are combined into a single, cohesive I/O system.
"What sets SNAP Ultimate I/O apart from other I/O systems, PLCs, and controllers is its built-in ability to acquire and distribute data",explains Roger Williams, Managing Director of System Devices Ltd. "Opto 22 has eliminated the need for expensive and complex software interfaces by embedding the protocols necessary to communicate directly with enterprise systems into the I/O itself."
Like SNAP Ethernet I/O, SNAP Ultimate I/O features a 10/100 Mbps auto-negotiating Ethernet interface and pure TCP/IP transport. SNAP Ultimate I/O also supports the simultaneous use of multiple application-level protocols including Modbus/TCP, XML, SMTP for e-mail, and Opto 22's open and published IEEE 1394 protocol.
SNAP Ultimate I/O is fully compatible with all existing, time tested and proven SNAP I/OTM components and systems, offering current Opto 22 users a significant increase in performance and functionality without having to replace or rewire existing SNAP I/O racks, modules, and power supplies.
